We decided to do Choquequirao tomorrow since we’ll be passing it on the way anyway,
and to give my leg a chance to rest a little better.
I drew an absolutely horrible sketch of an incredibly beautiful vista. I feel that if I could
ever say I had a talent for landscapes, it is well and truly gone. Though faces and
individual objects are what I actually used to be good at.
You wouldn’t believe the view I’m looking at as I write this. It’s just amazing. I can see
straight down into the valley where we were – practically to the Apurimac! BTW APU
(God’s) RIMAC (Voice of) means voice (speaker) of the gods. If you get down close to
it you can quickly understand how it got its name!
I’m sitting here in my nice, fuzzy, warm, new alpaca hoody that I got in Cuzco. I think I’ll
try to read a little before the natural light is gone.
I never really described the trek thus far. We started yesterday on a bus from Cuzco.
Fiona met me at Samay Wasi II (the hostel) and we took a taxi to the bus station.
There we met Armando (I had first met him when I got to the hostel).
… Rain!
